K-Bay Kōtuku
This kōtuku is frequently seen at Harataunga/Kennedy Bay in the Coromandel. I had searched for her on previous visits without success, but on this occasion I was a passenger and able to watch more closely. When I finally spotted her, I yelled “stop” — not the safest move, but we managed to pull over and spend some time watching her preen on the small jetty.
The black background is due to a very dark bank in the distance. The exposure was lowered slightly during post‑processing to increase contrast and highlight the kōtuku’s white plumage.
A4 and A4 fine art paper prints: Hahnemühle Cotton Rag 308gsm, a matte fine art paper offering excellent colour, deep blacks, and superb resolution; acid‑ and lignin‑free.
A3 canvas: 350 gsm textured semi-gloss canvas. It is wrapped around a kiln-dried frame and hand-stretched. This is a great option because it's ready to hang without the need for framing!
Other print formats - larger sizes, matted, or framed - are available on request.
